World’s First Full-Scale Indoor Golf Course
Massive domes house a new vision for year-round golf
Dear PA reader,
As sport adapts to new climates, audiences, and urban expectations, architecture is being asked to do far more than host the game.
A full-scale indoor golf course wrapped in expansive domes aims to make golf a year-round experience even in extreme weather, while Arena Milano edges closer to completion as a lasting civic venue after the 2026 Winter Olympics. In Saudi Arabia, the sprawling NEOM Trojena project has hit delays, underscoring the challenges of delivering large-scale sports destinations.
Across the Atlantic, early design concepts for Washington’s new NFL stadium suggest a more integrated presence within the urban fabric, and a global look at 10 stadiums set to open in 2026 shows that investment in sport remains a priority worldwide. Meanwhile, OODA’s House of Nassr Sports Complex and China’s Xinchang Globular Center remind us that sports architecture can be playful and expressive as well as functional.
