Most Anticipated Projects of 2026
A forward look at the buildings set to shape architecture’s next chapter!
Dear PA reader,
As 2026 approaches, a series of long-anticipated architectural projects is moving steadily toward completion. Spread across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, these works range from century-old constructions finally nearing completion to contemporary cultural, civic, and infrastructural buildings shaped by climate goals, urban pressures, and evolving public expectations.
Among the most closely watched are Gaudí’s Sagrada Família in Barcelona, approaching completion after more than 140 years, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, set to become the largest institution in the Guggenheim network. Elsewhere, projects such as BIG’s CityWave in Milan and Gelephu International Airport in Bhutan explore architecture’s role egional identity, while Snøhetta’s Shanghai Grand Opera House and BIG’s Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art reconsider how cultural buildings engage with their cities.
