Fashion Beyond Fabric
How architecture continues to influence couture, materials, and the future of fashion.
I’m into fashion because it contains the mood of the day, of the moment – like music, literature, and art. - Zaha Hadid
Dear PA Reader
Fashion is often dismissed as something fleeting, while architecture is seen as something permanent. Yet both disciplines begin with the same question: How can form shape human experience?
Decades of collaborations between architecture & fashion have laid the foundation for the relationship we see today. At Paris Haute Couture Fall 2026, that connection became more visible than ever. Gaudí's flowing geometries informed Schiaparelli's latest collection, while immersive runway environments transformed fashion presentations into architectural experiences.
Material innovation took centre stage with Iris van Herpen's plasma-powered couture dress, OXMAN's bacteria-based textile dyes, Rick Owens' inflatable Adidas cooling suits, and Pharrell Williams' wave-inspired Louis Vuitton runway, where immersive spatial design elevated the catwalk into an architectural spectacle.
Beyond the runway, fashion is also expanding into entirely new frontiers. Earth as Prada unveiled NASA's next-generation lunar spacesuit. Together, these breakthroughs illustrate how architecture, haute couture, material innovation, and space-age design are converging to shape the next chapter of creative practice.

BIM Masterclass: Data Automation in Revit & ClaudeThe focus is the everyday information problems of architectural and BIM projects, building typologies such as offices, healthcare, and mixed-use, where room programs, specifications, and model quality all matter. The whole workshop follows one sample project that you progressively enrich, so every step builds toward a single finished result rather than disconnected exercises. The workshop is scheduled for Sep 5 & 6, 2026. | Dynamic Wearables for Fashion Design 2.0This workshop expands the logic of dynamic wearables from jewelry-scale precision into garment-scale body systems, teaching students how to generate, map, segment, and fabricate computational designs that move between ornament, accessory, and fashion. The workshop is scheduled for July 18 & 19, 2026. |
