Architecture Between Memory and Innovation
As a powerful medium, architecture connects heritage, innovation, clean energy, and future learning
Dear PA Reader,
The future of architecture is being written across continents. In Saudi Arabia, the AlMusalla Prize 2027 advances with visionary finalists exploring new cultural spaces, while London welcomes the Serpentine Pavilion 2026, where LANZA atelier transforms humble brick into an immersive architectural experience. At the same time, OMA’s Hangzhou Prism shows how geometric design can redefine urban identity and balances experimentation with public engagement.
Yet innovation is not only about form. Across the built environment, clean energy technologies, renewable systems, and sustainable infrastructure are reshaping how buildings produce and consume power. Also, the rise of online architecture education is helping designers adapt faster to technological change, equipping a new generation with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital profession.
As architecture looks ahead, it also faces the responsibility of protecting the past. Concerns over Lebanon’s heritage sites highlight the fragility of cultural landmarks during periods of conflict, while the story of the Silk Route cities reminds us how trade, culture, and architecture have long shaped human civilization. Complementing these lessons, a prefab accessory dwelling unit in Mexico showcases how adaptable, efficient housing solutions can respond to contemporary urban needs.
