AI Crafts: What about AI-generated designs and copyright laws?

Your essential weekly update on the fusion of artificial intelligence and architecture, curated by PA.

Hello,

This week, there have been some significant developments in the world of AI that I would like to share with you.

Firstly, it has been reported that Meta will start watermarking AI photos across Instagram and Threads. This move is likely to have an impact on AI designers, but it may also be beneficial to users as it will enable AI images to be categorised more efficiently.

Secondly, the ambassadors of the 27 countries of the European Union have unanimously approved the world’s first comprehensive rulebook for Artificial Intelligence. This is a significant political agreement that highlights the increasing importance of AI.

In addition, Google has recently introduced an improved AI app that will allow users to integrate the technology into their smartphones and digital workspaces. It’s time to say goodbye to Bard and welcome the Gemini.

Although not strictly an AI tool, Apple has also revealed its latest product, the Vision Pro. These glasses offer users the ability to experience both virtual and augmented reality, which is a significant breakthrough.

Lastly, this month we will have our first AI Challenge of 2024. The Challenge aims to harness the capabilities of AI tools to quickly ideate, visualize, and create conceptually impressive architectural designs. It is only open to our Digital Members, so if you are interested in joining our membership and being part of this journey, please let us know.
